And the air continues to leak from the balloon.  Too slowly for some, way too fast for labels.  Depends on the perspective, but during the most recent week, album sales slumped to their lowest-ever levels in the US.  According to Nielsen Soundscan, albums shifted a modest 4.95 million during the period (physical+digital), their lowest since the company started tracking in the early 90s.

Eminem is helping to keep up appearances.  The rapper scored another number one with recent-week sales of nearly 133,000, and cumulative sales of more than 2 million.  Arcade Fire is also hanging tough with second-week album sales of 52,386 on The Suburbs, for an aggregate of more than 209,000.

Third-place Black Label Society scored first-week sales of 33,000 on Order of the Black, and just 13 artists sold more than 20,000 on the week.
